Gas Transmission or Permeability Tests

Test Methods: ASTM F1927, D3985, or F1307 using a computer-controlled Mocon Ox-Tran 2/21 MH instrument.

Test temperature and humidity vary to suit end-use requirements. The most common conditions are 23°C, dry or 75% RH. Usual units: cm³/m²/day. We can test film or sheeting, whole packages, bottles, trays, taps, heat seals, etc.

Test Description: Oxygen gas is passed over one side of the sample, while nitrogen flows over the other side then out to an oxygen-sensitive detector. Oxygen permeating through the sample will appear in the nitrogen stream and be measured by the sensor

Test Method: ASTM F1249, Mocon Permatran W instrument.
The usual test conditions are 38°C, 100% or 90% RH but other conditions are also available. Usual units: g/m²/day.
Test Description: Water vapour transmitted through the sample is measured by a modulated infra-red detector.
